About
Robert Peers

Robert Peers, 94, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully at home on February 27th, 2025.
Born October 17th, 1930, in Leeds, England, he was the son of the late Samuel Peers and step-son of the late Elsie Peers.
Robert served in the Royal Air Force. He later pursued a career as an engineer, working for AVCO Lycoming in Stratford, CT, and then Philips Medical Systems in Shelton, CT. He became a U.S. citizen in 1971.
In his youth, Robert enjoyed cycling and was a devoted supporter of Leeds United. While living in Lordship, CT, he discovered a passion for fishing, and in Monroe, CT, he took up golf. A former member of Brownson Country Club in Huntington, CT, his personal golf highlight was a hole-in-one on the par 3 fifth hole.
Robert will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. He was never shy of telling you what he thought. He didn't "Suffer fools gladly". He always enjoyed a good meal out.
He was the beloved husband of Marie (Barnhouse) Peers, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; his daughter, Katrina; his son, Nigel; and his daughter-in-law, Marian (Bowersox) Peers. He was the proud granddad of two: Taylor (Peers) Bolen and Ryan Peers, and the great-granddad of Oliver Bolen.
He also held dear his brother-in-law, Clive Barnhouse, and his family; his niece, Christine Clegg; his nephew, Philip Stockburn; his granddaughter’s husband, Conner Bolen; Brian Bowersox and his family; and Roger Bowersox.
The family has chosen to remain private with their plans for Robert.
